No time in modern history has touched more lives in more far-flung areas of our world -- or more greatly changed the course of world history -- than the cataclysmic events of World War II. Documentation of the major events of this war surely exists -- but we have little preservation of the personal stories of the many, varied aspects of this war in the way they can best be told -- from the first-person perspective of those who lived it. There is now a fast-disappearing opportunity to document and present the personal history of important events of the greatest modern war in history -- told by those who lived it and presented on Rocky Mountain Public Television this winter!

 

FROM MISTS OF TIME, INC. (a Colorado non-profit organization) has spent seven years recording first-person interviews with those who lived the war -- from combat pilot to bombing victim - to preserve their history. Many of those survivors of the war have since left us -- and time is of the essence to insure that as many as possible of those remaining are heard and recorded -- before they too forever fade into mere memory.

 

We are now preparing a three-part PBS series featuring those who went to war, who faced the worst horrors of war, and who fought their war on the battlefield of hometown Colorado.

 

* PART ONE: Girls Beneath the Bombs -- The war as experienced by seven women of three nations during their childhoods -- their personal remembrances of air-raid sirens, stealing food for their starving families and being forced to join the Hitler Youth.
* PART TWO: In Defiance of Death -- The experience of a bomber pilot who survived not only being shot down to become a prisoner-of-war, but also the harsh, heartbreaking world of the Nazi concentration camp in which he was mistakenly placed.
* PART THREE: Colorado Home Front -- America's civilian war. Women in small towns in Colorado heard the train whistle blow and rushed to the depot to take home-baked goods to the soldiers on their way to war. Others gave up their silk stockings and learned how to drive rivets into B-17s, all for "our boys."

***A $5,000 sponsorship covers the cost of a half-hour of finished editing for one program. You will receive your business name or your name for 15 seconds at the opening and at the closing of the Prime Time show.

 

***A $1,200 sponsorship covers the cost of Closed-Captioning for the Hearing Impaired of our programs. You will receive your business name or your name for ten seconds at the beginning of the show and at the ending of the show.
